Ebonyi guber: Umahi mocks APC candidate with N5m donation for better posters


The Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. Dave Umahi Wednesday donated the sum of N5 million to his rival, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State, Senator Sunny Ogbuorji to enable him print befitting posters and billboards.

Speaking while addressing political stakeholders and PDP supporters at Ishielu local government area of the state, he said the gesture was to save Ebonyi from the embarrassment caused by the quality of his APC challenger’s publicity materials.

The governor, who directed his Chief of Staff, Dr. Offor Okorie, to immediately release
the money to Ogbuorji and his running mate, said he was constrained to carry out the gesture to enable the APC gubernatorial candidate print good posters and billboards befitting of the state.

“Tell my brother, the one who said he is contesting governor with the so-called deputy to change their pictures (referring to their
posters). People will think that is how Ebonyi people look like.

“I want to donate N5 million to assist them change their posters. For the sake of the image of Ebonyi state, let them change those
posters and billboards. I want the Chief of staff to release the money immediately to them,” he said.

Umahi also warned PDP supporters against attacking members of opposition
or tearing their posters or billboards, saying, they are so insignificant and should not be given unnecessary attention.

He vowed to shutdown Ebonyi state for the campaign visit of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji
Atiku Abubaka and his running mate, Peter Obi slated to hold next week in the state.

“Ebonyi state is PDP. Vote for our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar; vote for Peter Obi our vice Presidential candidate; vote all the PDP candidates. There is no division in PDP Southeast. Southeast is totally PDP, we will organize a total rally for our Presidential candidate next week,” the governor said.
