Barely four days to Saturday’s governorship election, a Federal High Court in Kano state has nullified the candidature of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial candidate in Kano State, Abba Yusuf.
The court presided by Lewis Allagoa nullified the primary election that led to the emergence of Yusuf.
Judge Lewis declared PDP’s candidacy null and void, adding that the party did not conduct governorship primary election in Kano.
Counsel to the PDP, Bashir Yusuf, said the verdict did not affect the candidate but the party.
A PDP gubernatorial aspirant, Ali Amin-little, had approached the court, challenging the process that led to emergence of Yusuf as the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Kano.
This development is coming as a big boost to the ambition of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, who is seeking re-election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
