The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday declared that with the mammoth crowd that trooped out for the campaign rally of its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, was an indication that President Muhammadu Buhari has come to the end of the road in his quest for second term in office.

It stated that the mammoth crowd that embraced Abubakar in Kano on Sunday finally awakened President Muhammadu Buhari to the stark reality that he has lost it all in Kano State as well as the support of the North-West people.

Newsworth reports that there was an unbelievable turn of PDP supporters at the party’s mega rally in Kano a state whose votes had always been seen as the birthright of Muhammadu Buhari. Former governor of the state, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, mobilised thousands of his supporters and other residents of the ancient city to fill the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano to overflowing.

In a statement issued by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP said the spontaneous jubilation by Nigerians across the entire Kano state, in receiving Atiku reinforces the people’s rejection of Buhari “for impoverishing the people with his incompetence as well as endorsing corruption in the state”.

It said, “The people of Kano state are in alignment with other states of the federation, particularly in the north, in rejecting President Buhari for his manifest aloofness and insensitivity to the welfare of the poor, while his close relations and cabal at his Presidency live in arrogant opulence.

“President Buhari’s rejection is also a clear statement by the people of Kano State, that his public approval of the corruption activities of Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who was recently exposed in series of video allegedly collecting bribe in foreign currency from contractors, is unwelcomed.”

The main opposition party went on to berate Buhari for lifting the hands of the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje during the All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign rally.

“That President Buhari could publicly raise the hand of Governor Ganduje at a recent rally was an unpardonable affront to the people of Kano, who have a long history of standing against corruption.

“Also, the surging of the people of Kano in receiving Atiku Abubakar is a further demonstration of their anger against President Buhari’s panicky measure of importing mercenaries from Niger Republic into the state to populate his recent campaign rally, instead of addressing issues.

“The complete rejection of President Buhari in the face of the soaring acceptance of Atiku Abubakar across the country, particularly in the North West states of Kano, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kebbi, Zamfara and Katsina, which were hitherto considered as President Buhari’s stronghold, has clearly displayed that President Buhari and his dysfunctional All Progressives Congress (APC) have come to the end of the road.

“This explains why the Buhari Presidency and the APC are desperate to manipulate and rig the February 16 Presidential elections.

“We therefore charges Nigerians to politically occupy on the day of election and use all legitimate measure to protect their votes in the overall quest to rescue our nation from President Buhari’s misrule and return it to the path of national cohesion and economic prosperity under the leadership of Atiku Abubakar,” Ologbondiyan said.
