The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mallam Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai has been re-elected as the governor of Kaduna state, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Mallam Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai garnered 1,045,467 to defeat his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, challenger, Isa Mohammed Ashiru, who scored 814,167 votes.
The INEC returning officer, Prof Mohammed Yahuza Bello, said El-Rufai got the required electoral conditions and declared him the elected governor in the 2019 gubernatorial election in Kaduna state.
Results from the 23 local government areas of the state collated at the INEC headquarters in Kaduna showed that Governor El-Rufai won in 14 local government areas.
The local government areas are Makarfi, Soba, Kudan, Ikara, Kauru, Kubau, Kaduna North, Giwa, Birnin Gwari, Sabongari, Lere, Kaduna South, Zaria and Igabi. Ashiru, however, was victorious in nine local government areas of the state.
The local government areas according to the INEC Returning Officer are Jaba, Kachia, Kaura, Kajuru, Zango Kataf, Sanga, Chikun and Jema’a.
