The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing on Thursday congratulated Governors-elect in the South-East and called on them to fulfill their campaign promises, while those who lost out in the elections should accept the outcome in good fate and avoid unnecessary litigation.
President of the group, Mr Arthur Obiorah, gave the advice in a congratulatory message made available to newsmen on Thursday in Onitsha.
He said, “We congratulate the governors of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; Abia, Okezie Ikpeazu; Delta, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa and Ebonyi, Mr David Umahi on their re-elections.
“We also congratulate the new Imo Governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha on his victory.
“The governors-elect should give more political appointments to the youths because they are the bedrock of meaningful development in any promising society.
“Those who lost at the polls should not go into unnecessary litigations, but see the outcome of the elections as true reflection of the people’s political decision.”
He expressed worry over the declaration of the governorship election in six states by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC, as inconclusive).
Obiorah, who described the development as “worrisome,” said the situation in Rivers called for proper investigation of the roles of some security agents in the election.
He also urged INEC and security agencies to ensure due process in conducting all inconclusive elections in a bid to strengthen the nation’s democratic principles.
