Reps collating signatures to impeach Osinbajo – lawmaker alleges

The member ‎representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency of Edo State,  Mr. Johnson Agbonayinma, has claimed that some members of the House of Representatives ‎are collating signatures with the aim of impeaching Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

Agbonayinma made the allegation while addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, also stated that “Some political gladiators and media houses” were ‎sponsoring fake news against Osinbajo.

According to him, “I want you to be aware that signatures are currently being collected by disgruntled lawmakers to impeach the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

“The reason is because of the outcome of the NEMA investigations.

“For the records, the issues raised in the NEMA probe had to do with the misappropriation of funds by the Director-General, financial spending, procurement processes, among others.

“While I commend my colleagues in the discharge of their constitutional duties, I appeal to them to sheathe their swords, to continue to do the things that will promote the peace and unity of Nigeria.”

Agbonayinma,‎ however, failed to name‎ those behind the campaign against the Vice-President, saying they include disgruntled members of the All Progressives Congress.

Newsworth recalls that the House had probed the activities of the National Emergency Management Agency in the North-East, during which it indicted Osinbajo and the Director-General of the agency. The report allegedly indicted the Vice President of illegally approving the sum of N5.8 billion for the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, in clear breach of extant laws.
