The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress, APC, and is he is widely expected to soon pitch his political tent with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
This development came about the same time the Kwara state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, defected from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Saraki wrote on his official Twitter handle: ”I wish to inform Nigerians that after extensive consultations, I have decided to take my leave of the All Progressive Congress (APC).”
The defection of Ahmed, who is a protege of the Senate President, was announced in a statement signed by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede.
“Following due consultations with the people and in response to calls by major stakeholder groups in the state, Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed today defected to the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), having realized that the All Progressive Congress (APC) can longer serve as a platform for achieving the aspirations and expectations of his people,” the statement said.
