Ugwuanyi sacks aides for failing to adequately mobilise Enugu voters for 2019

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state has sacked his executive assistants, EAs, from Enugu North senatorial district for not doing enough to mobilise people for the continuous voter registration being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

He regretted that the EAs did not live up to their responsibilities in the wards in terms of sensitisation, mobilisation and promotion of government programmes, policies and interests at the grassroots.

Addressing the Enugu North committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Nsukka, Ugwuanyi pointed out that the voter registration was vital to the fortunes of the party and the state in the 2019 general elections.

He directed the sacked executive assistants to return to their various wards to revalidate their mandate and obtain fresh endorsement from the people before being reappointed.

“The ongoing voter registration is the key, it is very important to us. It is beyond the election. It is about all of us. Unfortunately, the EAs appointed to drive this campaign for the government at the grass roots have not done much in terms of sensitisation and mobilisation.

“I hereby declare their positions vacant in Enugu North Senatorial District,” the governor said.
