Some policemen were on Monday drafted to the office of the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, in Jabi Abuja following workers’ protest in response to the reinstatement of the Executive Secretary, Prof. Usman Yusuf.
This is as some persons believed to be in support of the recently reinstated Executive Secretary of the NHIS boss, Prof. Usman Yusuf, were said to be planning to hold a solidarity rally at the agency.
Yusuf was suspended in June 2017 by the Minister of Health, Prof. Issac Adewole, following allegations of gross misconduct and fraud to the tune of N919m. He was however reinstated by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, February 6.
This has led unionists at the NHIS to ground activities at the agency.
Speaking at the agency on Monday, Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria at the NHIS, Mr. Razaq Omomeji, told members not to be intimidated.
He stated that the persons coming for the solidarity protest were hired by Yusuf.
